Horkheimer and Adorno analyzed the media after 1942 and concluded that while man could have become more civilized and enlightened, they were becoming more barbaric.  The answer as to why there was increased barbarism lay within the media itself.  The media, the billions generated by it and its diffused message must recognize that it is dependent on a significant degree of civilization for its success.  The media has to be invested and committed in terms of content to civilization and its maintenance while staving off barbarism. As such, anything cannot go. There is a certain limit to content to ensure the perpetuation of an enlightened, well maintained and preserved civilization.  Enlightenment and its meaning may be an arguable definition but media that encourages the security of the person and of property regardless of age is a simple answer where it will be safe to not only have children but to also raise them. Florida has more than 600 gun deaths a year that surpasses the number of gun deaths in all other developed countries combined. That is a civil war. The antithesis of civil war is enforced law. Read Leviathan. That is no country for old men but it really should be since it has lots of nice uh buffet restaurants and stuff; right? Read King Alfred's laws and look around your neighborhood. You should be able to be thankful; innit?
