1000's of children of Abraham. The Samaritan woman was a preacher long before the woman at the tomb. She repented of her pagan practices and her Idolatry. Then she ran to town to preach about how she met someone who told her all about herself.

When Jesus showed up in Galilee, there were 1000's of children of Abraham. But, why was Abraham important? Why don't we find out.God promised his first son, Ishmael, 12 Princes and a great nation. That is a promise. He also says He established a covenant with Issac. So, everyone received the fulfillment of a promise.  Let's read Genesis 15 and Genesis 42. After 400 years of life in Egypt, Joseph was the only child of Jacob to marry an Egyptian and have a family or were there other Abrahamic-Egyptian families after 400 years? You never know under average odds but certainly some stayed and some left with Moses. Remember Moses and his Moabite wife or Ruth and Boaz. Do not forget also that Solomon had several Egyptian wives and a horse or two in addition. that The woman at the well refers to herself and her people as the children of Jacob.  This would mean the Samaritans were also children of Abraham.  You can't be a child of Jacob without also being a child of Abraham; right?  Paul the apostle was not a son of David but he was a Benjaminite and also a child of Jacob; a child of Abraham.  So, Jesus came back to remind tens of thousands of children of Abraham why it was important to know this identity and its purpose in the family or nations. The job or duty bequeathed to Abraham and his children was to deliver a message of salvation and enduring civilization.   There are thousands of such children from all nationalities and walks of life. They may even be French speaking Christians from Lebanon or citizens of other states in the region speaking Arabic, Hebrew or French.  The woman at the well said Jews and Samaritans do not speak but they certainly would not have fired mortar shells at each other. They were certainly cousins and could certainly share hot and cold running water and other infrastructure; if not a well. They were related and certainly co-existed and walked passed each other on a day to day basis.

The irony about Cornelius the centurion is that by the  time in history where he interacted with Paul the apostle and was paying alms to the Jews, he may have been a Roman with actual ancestry that could be traced back to Abraham and a little pagan and idolatrous like the Samaritans but certainly a child of Abraham and one inspired to repent and to pay alms to the Jews. Read John 4.  Read Acts 8-10.  So, Jesus came to not only remind the children of Abraham of their calling and duty(Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets), he also helped to point out the new phenomenon of cultural and definitely racial difference among the children who were as numerous as the sands on the seashore.
