Consumers and imagination..

The ideological battle is really a struggle for the imagination. The west won the struggle for the imagination via Hollywood and a box of Fruit Loops. Underlying this is fundamental market dynamics that relies on a viable consumer base. The U.S.S.R. had good infrastructure but no significant consumer base that was dying to have social acceptance with a pair of Fruit Of The Looms or Gap shoes. However, no society saw or was infected by the power of consumerism prior to the 1930's. All societies were essentially agrarian and utilitarian. A well tailored suit with good material had its value in an agrarian, utilitarian society whether or not the suit had a label. The power of labels and brands had yet to emerge. After 1930, without consumers spending collectively billions of dollars on consumer products or simply donuts and hot chocolate every minute and second as in the west, it is easy to see why the U.S.S.R ran out of pep. But, practically speaking, the U.S.S.R. was a common market not unlike the E.U. But one in which they had very little market and very little consuming, a small consumer base and little consumerism. Such lack of consumerism did not dent their initial success as exemplified by beautifying infrastructure projects as seen in the Russian subway system prior to the 1930's. Consumerism was not a significant factor initially. The U.S.S.R. had its hour and generation of flourishing. After the 30's, consumerism was a new factor. Their social programs were also a key success evidently with 100 percent literacy. World War II, however, was a cathartic respite from the consumerism and commercialism whether people recognized this in their experience or not. They could focus on community and on being human instead of the cannibalizing and consuming focus on consumerism. Without a vision, the people perish. Without an imagination, there is no people. It is important to carefully construct an imagination that will be a foundation for the current and future generations. Art imitates life but life and individuals are impacted emotionally, spiritually and morally by the media quite heavily. Life imitates art and Miley Cyrus should keep her clothes on and stay out of strip clubs when doing music video clubs. A meadow would be nice or a nice drive along route 66. A walk along the river Sienne would sell the music as well. The album would still sell quite well! The message of Hollywood can be simplified as follows and is universally relative; we are consumers and also individuals and as individuals, we choose to believe that there is a supreme being in our lives most often than not every day and every minute. This is the message of Gravity and Castaway. The message is essentially the same. Hollywood is worship; essentially of truth over error when taken in balance. Hollywood is a collection of promises to love your neighbor as yourself and if this was not so, the director could not be confident about his pay from the movie company and the actor could not rely on the director. Hollywood is evidence of the most essential social contract; the ten commandments in that we should treat others as we wish to be treated. Otherwise, it could not maintain its function. In this, the message is to choose life and life more abundantly. Deuteronomy 11 and 30:19 makes this clear. We are extolled to choose life. In balance, the peace of the gospel is being disseminated.

A Misnomer...

The issue of communism is a misnomer in that it is structurally and systemically untenable in a world capitalist system( also referred to as a market driven economy). Communism should be referred to now as redistributive capitalism.   Communism, also referred to as Redistributive capitalism, will provide a one bed apartment for every adult who completes high school. If you want equity, you can hope to get a job and buy the unit. Then, you will be a land owner.  See Osvaldo Sunkel for more. Social programs that satisfy socio-political aspirations of a country or the creature comforts and health requirements of every member of the population are celebrated but cannot dismiss the fundamental realities of market dynamics as they may be. Every country is a corporate person or market entity. Every country must have something to sell like Nikes or Byblos to maintain its intended social programs. The "Bedouin" market trader in Portobello Road near an NHS clinic calculates all activity on buying low and selling high! This is also true at the highest level of nation to nation market dynamics. Leninism would have remained viable so long as the average citizen did not want to be an individual and maintained utilitarian 19th century small farm community necessities in materialistic desires that did not include coca cola, Nike, Levis, Camel smoke products and others marketed through the media that wittled Leninist group-think in favor of the individual. The end of the Leninist ideological dream begins with Hollywood and the desires sold to the individual in every heart throbbing scene selling love, action and courage. It really started to heat up around 1930-32. Here's looking at you kid or kido! Lenin could not have forseen the power of this media in giving rise and daily consideration to what Marx recognised as a key aspect of human nature in economic life; that is individual creative power and personal expression. You cannot stifle human personality forever and expect to have a strong viable market. But, we can safeguard community with media that reflects respect for family and the sanctity of human life. 1961-70 censor boards are good enough. Who needs nightmare, hellish tv to sell running shoes, sexy smart phones and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles? My pastor said he would rather sit naked with his wife and watch Modern Family and the occasional contextual Hollywood movie such as Crazy, Stupid Love. There you go! Way to go Pastor.

Machines don't buy bread. People do. Human Survival Economics is capitalism and marxism(synonyms) without the fictional ideological division at the highest level. A Song...

There was a song about a little girl being left in Kingston Town. Well, there are several towns in the world named Kingston. The song was not syncopated originally and was in 4/4 swing jazz time. Once these facts were brought to light the divorce rate went down in addition to the rate of child abandonment. The number of arranged marriages went up also. This is because people could trust. There was a person who sung the song at a party( about a little girl in Kingston) once in a while who learned mistakenly that he would not have or feel authority unless he killed a relative in some shape or form. He would have authority regardless. He would also have additional authority if he blessed them. He decided to sing Lord "I lift Your Name On High" and sing the song that says he stayed with the girl. The marriage rate went up.

With respect to new technology, functionality is the limit beyond which mass utilization cannot precede. We must safeguard the sale of machine-made consumer items; the machine made Seiki, TImex, Rolex, diamond rings and other luxury goods.

There is a new principle emerging called functionality; a functionality principle. It is important to HS(Human Survival) econommics. Marx alluded to this in his review of life for candle stick makers during the industrial revolution. Well, it's not really new.  But, maybe it needs to be utilized more often. A glass surfaced phone that has no functionality when the temperature falls below 0 degrees  is not functional. Food that does not satiate the appetite nor the pleasure of eating is not functional.  A digital voting system that is manipulable but that ensures a reasonable figure head with lots of checks and balances on his influence is not soo useful.  Hand-written ballots that cannot be manipulated may ensure the integrity of the system albeit with the same checks and balances on power. This is because right now, the current system allows  a whim and a fancy to be elected by a small minority if they so choose.   They would just tweet their choice to the big golden machine and the choices and directions along the way are given a sense of drama and debate with the assistance of human servants. It's okay so long as everyone can get a job with reasonable effort since you need people to buy the new gadgets and take nice trips to 70% empty hotels in pretty exotic places. Also, there should be sufficient diversity in every profession that resembles the average racial diversity in the top publicly funded high school in the most populace city; the one with the tallest skyscrapers and the smelliest reputation for insufficient parks and big attitudes. This is because we look to that city, where ever it is, as some symbol of freedom or independence but it is really a city of respected and managed diversity, ease of transportation and a belief in a fairness that approximates the intellectual, well-proportioned, beautiful and shapely evidence of human equality.  Read Hosea 2.   But, such a new voting (current or otherwise) system, if it were to exist, would not be very functional except that anything digital is manipulable maybe and the only people paying attention to the news are those hoping for an American World Cup trophy or a Russia vs. U.S. world cup soccer final.  They already have the Stanley Cup and a few Wimbledon titles.

In urban renewal projects in countries south of Minnesota, they noticed that roads have more pot holes where there are houses and more people. It(the same road) has fewer pot holes in areas with fewer houses and less people. This is so where the amount of vehicle traffic remains constant in both areas. What is causing the pot holes when the road is actually the same road with the same flow of traffic? It could be a filling discovery!

The 15th Century Preacher.

There was a 15th century preacher who believed in the Holy Ghost for a while. One day, he had a moment with a young maiden who came for prayer. A bird came in the window and buzzed near her head. In the flutter, the strings on her maiden dress came loose and their nature took over. She came quite often for prayer after that although the bird was not needed for their nature. He became concerned that an organist who kept his organs and who did not bother himself with people's affairs might know something about him. The organists just loved music. So, the Preacher asked the maiden to get close to the organist, have the organist's baby by using a little of the organist's potty water. He ate the baby and kept hoping for the organist's ill health and to also know just what house chamber music song the organist was humming with the gospel in mind. Oh well; God is power but when power supersedes our purpose in knowing Him, where you hope illness on others, who are you serving when God's word is a word for health and healing and not sickness? This is so that we will sing unities and not rifts. If illness ever comes may it be between the Maker and that believer. It is only a sign of separation from God to hope illness on any other soul. It departs from the spirit and its fruit. The other preacher down the road told her and the bird not to come back unless she agreed to speak to a woman elder. When his nature took over, he prayed and called his wife to come in and escort her out. The woman with the bird decided to get her own husband instead of trying to be a number 2 in some married man's life and borrowing the time of someone else's good man. Sing unities and not rifts.
