Herod may have been the only one willing to claim that to be the king of Israel. But, it does not mean much if he was not serving the purposes of Israel.

Herod may have been the only one willing to claim that to be the king of Israel.  But, it does not mean much if he was not serving the purposes of Israel.  Herod, however, may have been a distant cousin after 800 years of occupations and exiles with Babylonians and Assyrians in addition to all of the concubinage. But, what does it really mean in light of an Amnon and a Absalom, a Saul and other collateral damage in keeping a light burning and the salt salving in the promised land?   Hmmm?
