A Husband is a friend. A wife is a friend. Read Proverbs 31 and Ecclesiastes 4. See Bonhoffer for more. You really couldn't trust your high school cheer-leading uniform, yearbooks, high school hockey sticks and football pads with anyone else but a friend while you work hard to ensure the Postman remembers to ring just once to prevent your wife from suffering distraction from her bible study preparations before she goes to run a modelling studio from 4-8 pm. Enjoy it when your friend calls you a friend. You ate dinner together last night and you trusted his or her coffee for the afters love. Read Ecclesiastes 4 and Proverbs 31. Don't forget a good symbol. Symbols are important such as a set of doves or wheat sheafs. Maybe a fish, cross or a crystal rock with paper and a pen( rock, paper, pen(TM)) might help!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! The pen wins every time. Marriage(formal friendship) is not to be uh something entertaining only or entertained lightly. You can always leave when you want though but you should try. Read Matthew 19. When a battery runs out, what do you do? You let go and you don't think at all. When your girlfriend or boyfriend runs out, what do you do? Maybe you should stop and read Matthew 19. Did they forgive your last episode of doubt about their cell phone being off? Maybe they found a friend.

Human love is directed to the other person for his own sake, spiritual love loves him for Christ's sake. Therefore, human love seeks direct contact with the other person; it loves him not as a free person but as one whom its binds to itself. It wants to gain, to capture by every means; it uses force. It desires to be irresistible, to rule. Right here is the point where spiritual love begins. This is why human love becomes personal hatred when it encounters genuine spiritual love. It nurses and cultivates and ideal(idol), it loves itself, and nothing else in the world. Spiritual love, however, comes from Jesus Christ, it serves Him alone.
