What inspired Solomon to write Proverbs 3:5-6? He was inspired by all of the people around him who were trying to seek authority by influencing him with advice that is essentially predicated on the notion of self-rejection. They don't want to be alone in their rejection of self or of God's word.  How can you accept God's love if you don't accept your self? God is within you. He took his father's advice and read Psalms 82. How can you accept your children if you don't accept yourself?  Your children are within you. You are within your children.  You could spend a whole entire life rejecting yourself as manifested in your children. Follow the wives' tales as promoted by several popular magazines as you wish. Some of them tell you to do whatever you want so you can feel just like them. The devil did this to Adam and Eve.  Eventually, you get to a place where you might have jilted the only man who would ever stay faithful and you justified this by following the wives' tale that all men cheat or that all men are dogs. But, that could not be a wives' truth but just a tale. Dogs have tails.
