This is not free academics.

The notion of economies of scale seemed to have confirmed something quite tremendous.  If you send all of the jobs to other countries where you believe there is a competitive advantage to you as the producer in North America, in terms of labor costs, what do Americans do to earn money to purchase the goods when they are shipped back to North America from Shenzhen?   Are you, on mass,  just soldiers on benefits after a few tours of duty?  But, how do you drive a vehicle if you don't have knee caps? You buy a driver-less vehicle! But, how do you drive a driver-less vehicle on mass? The car company needs consumers.  Keep some jobs at home but more importantly, provide every citizen $40000.00 and just give every citizen job assignments at various domestic manufacturers and other such service companies that include hotels with a monthly performance bonus for excellent results.  With certain skills utilized in knowledge intensive fields, the bonuses would reflect your expertise with salaries approaching six figures as is the case today. But, your economy would avoid cyclic downturns and a higher level of general output. Sending jobs overseas is sending your economy overseas. It builds cities since everyone in that overseas country prospers with the average citizen gaining more average buying power.  How much do you think they pay someone in....what was the name of that cool and prosperous looking city? Sze Sze.
