A father read Mother Goose tales to his children.   He bought them a children's encyclopedia.   He had some difficulty with patience as a  flirt but he kept demanding that his children follow the simple lessons and practice patience in preparing for and pursuing formal education.  They did. If they did not, he threatened to disown him.   He hummed Beatles tunes all day long as they played on the radio.  His son got a part time job and saved up. He bought a Beatles album. All of a  sudden, his entire family and also some neighbors in the culture decided to try and muffle and stifle him. "Who do you think you are?"; they would ask.  They seemed to think he was competing with his father or trying to be ahead of him or go above him but the father drove the boy to the record shop and talked about family moments and fun.   They were afraid that he would grow and become independent and they might become jealous.  They chose to dissociate as if they were going to get some social respect or authority.  In the end, they were seeking attention. A lot of families had Beatles albums by then. But, apparently, his mother never went to school or listened to the radio since she was told she would have authority. She was too white for that.   But, they did not get anything from anyone except in their emotions from an emotional idol that consisted of  a dead relative whose heart was in a bottle and who had killed English people in America for authority.  It was a sin.  He did not realize that everybody was equal whether or not they bought a Beatles album.
